Change management: AI implementation in HR
How to successfully implement AI in HR
Thesis project description
I'm currently pursuing a master's degree in International Business Communication at Aarhus University. As I approach my dissertation in spring 2024, I wish to collaborate with an international company with English as its corporate language on a project focusing on change management, particularly the implementation of AI in HR. AI represents a significant change within HR and the future workforce. Over time, AI will become an indispensable tool that we cannot afford to overlook. However, the use of AI also raises various opinions and ethical considerations, especially within the field of HR. It's important to acknowledge that not all employees may embrace this technological change. Therefore, how we communicate about this change is crucial to ensure successful implementation. I plan to interview a group of employees (4-8 people) from the HR department in your company. Scheduled for late February or early March 2024, this 2-hour interview aims to identify attitudes and potential barriers employees might encounter during AI implementation. Based on these insights, I intend to develop a communication strategy to ensure successful implementation. Confidentiality is secured, and the results, along with my analytical considerations, will be shared exclusively with your company to encourage reflection and potential internal use. Should this opportunity wake an interest for you, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would be delighted to provide further details on the dissertation's scope and context, as well as to learn more about your company, facilitating a collaboration that aligns with everyone's objectives. I look forward to hearing from you! Best regards
Managerial value of the research
The insights gathered from the examination will allow me to create a tailored communication strategy, which you beneficially may use for further reflections or internal use when the day for AI implementation comes. As stated before, how we communicate about technological changes is essential for the success of the implementation of the change. Otherwise, employees may resist the change, which can have severe consequences for your business.
Research topic motivation
I fell in love with change management and communication during my second semester in 2023. My HR internship in fall 2023 provided insights into the use of AI in HR, which made me reflect upon how change management is crucial for successful AI implementation. These thoughts discharged into a dissertation idea, which made me discover that I had found my topic. I want to work with people and organisation development in the future, in which change management is a crucial aspect. Thus, my motivation for my dissertation topic is founded on my passion and interests for my future career.
