Thesis project description

Tourism is a huge industry, generateing a big amount of waste. Therefore it is cruical that the organizations have a proper waste management strategy, to aim for more sustainable tourism practices. I would like to investigate a certain organization's or touristic event's current waste management techniques, along with comparing it with the academic findings and work out ideas for improvements.

Managerial value of the research

My reseach could bring improvements for the company in terms of researching waste management options that the organization might not have found out about so far, along with new ideas. Ideally, my paper would contribute to the organization's success in becoming more environmentally sustainable, and maybe even gain financial benefits.

Research topic motivation

During my study programme, almost all courses included the issue of sustainability within the tourism sector. I wanted to do something meaningful for my thesis, so it is not only a school paper. I believe that this topic, if worked out properly, can be my contribution to making a company or an event less harmful for the environment.
