Industry Bsc Project within Structural/Civil Engineering, Geotechnics, or Materials Science

9-week Bsc project in the Spring of 2025, particularly within larger infrastructure projects, or other ongoing projects with comparable technical qualities. Possibility for work before and after collaboration period.

Project Description

I'm a Bsc student of Civil Engineering (Byggeteknologi) looking for a company or organization to write a bachelor project with in the spring of 2025.

I'm looking for opportunities to contribute particularly within larger infrastructure projects, or other ongoing projects with comparable technical qualities.

My dream projects would concern themselves with aspects of offshore structures, floating structures, harbors, bridges, dams, high-rise structures, power plants or other heavy industry buildings, or anything within the raw materials and mining industry.

Those aspects might include materials science and concrete chemistry, structural or geotechnical analysis and design, modelling, literature studies, or experiments. At this stage, I'm still very open to discuss it.

Managerial value of the research

Ideally, I see my project providing direct value to a concrete, ongoing project. I am not allowed to be paid for any directly project-related work during the project period (9 weeks), except for a non-binding "gratitude" of 3.286,- DKK/month that you can choose to pay me if our results are good enough. I aspire and expect to deliver value to you that is much higher than this. My contribution to your project will thus directly or indirectly find its way to your bottom line.

Since I'm very open to work for you before, during and/or after our project collaboration, I have the time both to prepare for the project to start, and to follow up on the results on it. I think this could massively enhance the value of the project within your company or organization.

I am also very open to working on tasks that are not directly linked to the project before, during or after the project collaboration period.

Research topic motivation

A sustainable future as I see it depends two-fold on wide-spread global wealth, and on renewable energy sources. Both of which in turn depend on the infrastructure that support them. I would love to do my part in shaping that infrastructure.

I think that infrastructural projects in particular are beautiful in that they provide an unmatched kind of "public wealth" through their massive positive externalities, that indirectly benefit every other sector. Infrastructure is the foundation that society and civilization builds and relies upon.

I also believe that a lot of today's political unrest and most polluting practices fundamentally feed on a lack of, and an uneven distribution of resources. Improving, expanding, and internationalizing infrastructure is, I think, a solid and unavoidable way for humanity to progress into a more peaceful, co-dependent and sustainable future.

Doing work of high quality within this area is the most effective way that I can personally contribute to the world. -Improving the lifespan of structures, optimizing the amount of materials used to build them, reducing their emmissions, making good solutions cheaper and more effective, and making certain structures even feasible to build could be among the worthwhile endedeavours that I can see myself working on and contributing to.

Within these scopes, I'm personally most enthused by structural and geotechnical engineering, foundations, and materials science and thermodynamics, but at heart, my passion lies simply in grasping, and working with holistically viable solutions to technical problems within the built environment.

Why collaborate with us

I'm the perfect candidate for collaboration on your project if:

  • You want a student whose first priority during the collaboration period will be the project. The bachelor project is the only thing on my plate this semester.
  • You want a student who is open to work with your company prior to, during, and/or after the project collaboration has ended.
  • If you are based in or around Aalborg, or are open to a partly remote position, I am open to continue working with you all throughout my subsequent Msc programme. (Which I expect will be Civil Engineering at Aalborg University)
  • You want a student with high academic performance. I have good grades, a professional work ethic, and am, according to my head of studies, among the top 10% of students. I'm among the most curious and fast learners I know.
  • You want a student with work experience. I've worked for, and done freelance student assistant jobs for several Civil Engineering firms including Masanti A/S, Permagreen A/S, GEO and Sweco.
  • You want a student who is good at english, conversational in Spanish, and open to work abroad and in international teams. I've lived in 5 different countries, I'm a certified Intercultural Facilitator, and have loads of experience navigating in an international environment.
  • You want a student with professional and personal experience in the Arctic.
  • You want a student that is flexible with working location. Since I don't follow any courses in this semester, I am open to relocate both internationally and within Denmark given the right project opportunity.
