Enhancing Social Inclusion for Minorities in Scandinavia

Thesis project description

This thesis will explore the inclusion and integration of ethnic minorities and minorities in Denmark, specifically their access to and participation within the 'dominant' Danish society. The thesis aims to explore how civil society/NGOs are facilitating cultural encounters between ethnic minorities and migrants and the Danish society, which in turn fosters their integration and also supports inclusion. Given this aim, the researchers would like to collaborate with organizations that offer up-skilling/skills-based programs and/or that are facilitating community social events to encourage dialogue and interaction.

Managerial value of the research

The insight gained from the thesis has the potential of providing supporting research for funding opportunities as well as highlighting areas of growth for the program.

Research topic motivation

In addition to studying migration studies, we both have a background in cultural encounters and strongly believe that inclusion is the missing variable immigrant integration in Denmark. We also both have professional experience in the NGO sector  in Denmark and abroad and forsee our next steps, post-graduation, with organizations working in this field.

Why collaborate with us

Simply put, "this isn't our first rodeo"! We have conducted research in collaboration with organizations in our studies before and also within our roles at our respective NGOs.
