Thesis project description

I'm very open to what the specific topic of the Thesis should be. I'm interested in applications of Mathematical models to optimize setups and processes. I'm especially interested in the transport sector, where I already did a bigger project optimizing the fleet composition and routing of individual trucks for a fictional waste management company that collects infectious medical waste from hospitals in Munich. My second big interest are industrial and production-related settings because of my technical specialization in uni which is mechanical engineering.

Managerial value of the research

Optimizing setups or processes like production schedules can have substantial financial impacts with very little to no investment costs. This collaboration is the perfect opportunity to save on the usually most expensive part, developing the solution.

Research topic motivation

Looking at real business problems, trying to understand them, and bringing them into mathematical form to solve them fascinates me. My primary motivation for collaborating with a company is to work on real problems because I noticed in previous projects that it is completely different than dealing with artificially constructed problems and perfect data. I like the challenge of handling all the complexities of the real world.

Why collaborate with us

My strongest ability is to adapt quickly to new problems and adapt my approach accordingly. I learned that during my various student jobs and exchange semesters in which I had to adapt to new problems and circumstances many times. I would consider myself a generalist with knowledge from multiple fields (Management, Operations research, and Mechanical Engineering) which gives me a unique view on problems and helps me to understand them from different sides, allowing me to solve them creatively using strategies and methods from all these fields.

Hello there! I would describe myself as easygoing but very focused and goal-oriented. In my free time, I like to meet friends and socialize especially in an international environment.

Passion and motivation

I'm passionate about operations research and would love to write my thesis in this field. My various student jobs and international experiences taught me how to thrive in a professional setting and how to manage myself and work independently without losing the main objectives even on bigger projects.
