My bachelor thesis seeks to take a close look at the issues and opportunities of CVC investments within the life science sector to leverage new startups to obtain a successful external R&D pipeline. The thesis may end up focusing on several aspects of this, both the financial aspects of the M&A process, the strategic considerations behind CVC investments in medicon valley, the corporate governance aspects of these investments or something else enteirely within the perspective of a larger corporate entity making investments in the startup ecosystem
The value that a collaboration could bring to a company is fresh perspectives in how startups can be leveraged in their company either through investments or through copying some of the methods which is utilized to foster innovation. The thesis will be specified to the parter company's needs and provide a consultation on what current research and experts have discovered in terms of utilizing startups in the R&D process proposes to overcome some the issues that the company is currently facing.
I feel in love with the way startups operate during my internship after high school in a london-based VC. It has always facinated me how these entities manage to innovate in a way which is completely different than large organization which may often have hinderances to performing the same innovative work. Since then I have often wondered what issues there may lie in merging large organizations with startups through CVC investments and how these large organizations can utilize the startup approach while supporting the startup ecosystem.
Having worked very closely within the startup ecosystem both internally and through a VC, I have frist-hand experience with the startup perspective which gives me a great foundation for then engaging with the perspective of a larger organization.Academically, I am currently achiving a GPA of 11.2/12 at the very top of my class, which will ensure the academic quality of the bachelor thesis to ensure that the case company can use the thesis after it has been written.Through my work as a management consultant I know how to approach potential issues within a company and utilize both pratical and academic perspectives to provide value.Overall, I belive that my practical and academic knowledge combined with an industry perspective will make me a great candidate for knocking the bahcelor thesis out of the park. All I need is case company which wants a free consultation of their current business issues within CVC investments.
I'm a student with a keen interest in innovation and entreprenuership and especially how startups can aid more established business in achiving their strategic goals. I'm also an avid cyclist and have participated in thriathlon and OCR races, so endurance sport is a big part of my life apart from work.
My motivation for working together with a case company is bridging the world of academia and the corporate reality. From my experience, having too much of an academic angle can sometimes leave out important perspectives on the day-to-day operations of business which sometimes does not completely allign with academic theory. On the other hand, being completly unaware of new research will also leave out important knowledge that companies need to grow. By writing my bachelor thesis with a real life case, I belive that both these perspectives can be accommodated and create a more nuanced perspective on current business issues.
